Clinical Cognitive Neuroscience Center
Clinical Cognitive Neuroscience Center (CCNC) is a multidisciplinary research group dedicated to understanding the neural basis of human cognition and psychiatric disorders and translating this knowledge into better clinical care.
ABOUT CENTER
The Clinical Cognitive Neuroscience Center (CCNC) was established in 1998 by Professor Jun Soo Kwon, who pioneered clinical and cognitive neuroscience research in schizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive disorder at Seoul National University. Over the years, CCNC has developed a strong research tradition combining clinical psychiatry with human neuroscience and has contributed to the study of both healthy individuals and patients with psychiatric disorders.

Founder and Former DirectorFollowing Professor Kwon’s retirement in 2024, Professor Minah Kim assumed leadership of CCNC and continues to build on this foundation, expanding the center’s research toward contemporary clinical neuroscience, biomarker development, longitudinal studies, and personalized treatment.
Today, CCNC brings together psychiatrists, neuroscientists, psychologists, and trainees to investigate clinically meaningful questions in human brain function and mental illness through interdisciplinary and collaborative research.
CCNC aims to understand the neural mechanisms underlying human cognition and psychiatric disorders, and to clarify how alterations in brain function and brain circuits contribute to the development, progression, and clinical manifestations of mental illness.
We seek to identify biologically meaningful markers that can improve early detection, prognosis, and treatment response prediction, while also addressing the heterogeneity that exists across individuals with the same clinical diagnosis.
Ultimately, our goal is to translate advances in clinical neuroscience into more precise and personalized approaches to the assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders.
